Why is STEM important? What is all the "buzz" about?
STEM is important because it teaches critical thinking skills and instills a passion for innovation. Beyond the benefit of learning science, technology, engineering, and math, STEM assists in problem-solving and exploratory learning that fuel future success across a variety of tasks and discipline areas.
Why should you consider a STEM camp or club? How is it different from STEM classes during the year?
What ages can come to STEM Camp?
Children between the ages of 5-13 are eligible to enroll. Based on the activities and overall structure of the camp, campers must be at least 5 years old by July 1, 2024.
What is your policy for children with special needs?
This is a fully inclusive program. Children of all abilities are invited to our camp. The suitability of the camp will vary based on the individual child's needs and abilities. The staff is qualified to work with students of all abilities. However, due to limitations in staffing numbers, in some extreme circumstances, we are not able to maintain campers who exhibit extremely disruptive behavior and we are unfortunately limited by staff availability (in quantity).
What are the locations of the camp for the summer of 2024?
Currently, we are scheduled to use the Charles County Public Library. However, depending on the number who enroll in the camp, the location is subject to change. Attendees will be notified, but if the location changes, it will remain in the Charles County area.
Are all your locations air-conditioned?
All the locations being considered for the Summer program will be air-conditioned.
